At The JFKLiving Team, we believe real estate is about more than just houses—it’s about community. That’s why we’re proud to sponsor Cooking Up A Cure, a special fundraiser created by Haddon Culinary and the Salem County Vocational Technical School. This annual event is raising money for ALS United Mid-Atlantic and honoring the incredible legacy of Chef Guy Dunagan.
What Is Cooking Up A Cure?
Cooking Up A Cure is a unique fundraiser that combines food, family, and philanthropy. From September 9–12 2025, families can order meal kits for four prepared by Haddon Culinary chefs and Salem Tech students. Each kit is $65 per night, or you can pre-order the four-night bundle for just $50 per night.
The best part? Every meal purchased helps push toward the $15,000 fundraising goal—with proceeds going directly to support ALS patients and families right here in our region. Pickup is simple and convenient at three locations:
- Salem Tech in Woodstown
- Haddon Culinary in Collingswood
- Haddon Culinary in Haddonfield
Why ALS?
ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis), also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease, is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that attacks nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord. Over time, ALS robs people of the ability to walk, talk, eat, and even breathe—while the mind stays fully intact. There is currently no cure for ALS, and average life expectancy after diagnosis is just 2–5 years. It’s a devastating disease, not just for the individuals who live with it, but also for their families and caregivers.
This fundraiser is being held in honor of Chef Guy Dunagan, a beloved educator at Salem Tech and Atlantic County Institute of Technology, who continues to inspire students and the culinary community while navigating his own ALS journey.
Who Is ALS United Mid-Atlantic?
The proceeds from Cooking Up A Cure benefit ALS United Mid-Atlantic, a nonprofit dedicated to supporting people with ALS and their families. Their mission includes:
- Patient and family support: Providing access to equipment, clinical care, and in-home resources.
- Research: Funding and promoting studies aimed at finding treatments and ultimately a cure.
- Advocacy: Working to ensure policies and funding are in place to expand care and accelerate progress against ALS.
When you order a meal kit, you’re not just sitting down to a delicious dinner—you’re helping fuel life-changing support and research.
