When friends come to visit, I’m not winging it. There’s a very intentional route happening behind the scenes. Because “South Jersey” can mean a lot of things…
But the version I’m showing them? Walkable downtowns, great food, good coffee, and an abundance of nature. Here’s exactly where we go in the spring:
Restaurants With Spring Patio Energy
Duo Restaurant & Bar
Just opened in Haddon Township NJ, this has quickly become a Haddon Ave staple. Replacing the 15-year-old Keg & Kitchen, Duo hit the scene with an elevated (but not stuffy) scratch-made Italian-inspired menu. And with a charming outdoor setup, it's where you'll want to be with a fruity cocktail when the sun's out this spring.
Gass & Main
If I want to impress someone without making it obvious, this is the move. It's got a creative—and downright delicious—menu, with dishes that you'll be raving about for months. The apps in particularThe deviled eggs, brussels chips, It's right in the middle of downtown Haddonfield with streetside dining under twinkly lights. A spring favorite, for brunch and dinner.
The Early Bird
This Riverton NJ breakfast cafe opened under new ownership in October 2025, and is a darling spot for a spring brunch. Choose from espresso pancakes with whipped cream, crème brûlée french toast, frittata, garlic aioli-smothered mushroom toast, and shaved sirloin omelette. While it doesn't have an outdoor patio, it's the perfect food to grab and eat at the park for an impromptu picnic.
Saddlehill Winery
This is where things slow down. Wine, open space, and that “we should do this more often” feeling. In Voorhees NJ, enjoy wine flights, vineyard tours, different workshops & events, and a delicious light menu to pair your wine with.

☕ Coffee Stops Worth Packing Away The Keurig
Four Green Cats
Nestled along a leafy Mount Laurel street, Four Green Cats Cafe is quirky, rustic, charming, and has a delicious assortment of pastries to accompany your hot (or iced!) beverage. This is a great place to linger with friends, supping on frothy cappuccinos, on their outdoor patio.
The French Press
French Press opened its doors just off Main St, Moorestown in early 2024, and since then it's been an absolute hit for the town and its visitors. French Press offers an upscale vibe with a succulent selection of sweets and pastries, and an incredible tea-and-coffee menu. Its outdoor patio makes it a staple in spring.
Upcycle Fitness & Social Club
What started as a spin studio has expanded into spin, yoga, barre, and now a wonderful coffee shop-slash-community-space at the front of the building. With the friendliest staff around, a creative and delicious menu of drinks, and an ambitious social calendar, you'll want to head to Upcycle this season.
Driftaway Cafe
A bit more under-the-radar, this Lindenwold cafe offers a menu of breakfast and lunch sandwiches that can be enjoyed on a charming outside porch (complete with rocking chairs!). A sweet selection of drinks include Mocha Salted Caramel, Cookies N' Cream, and Cinnamon Roll lattes. It's also next door to Napoleons Creme Puffery for extra sweet treats!
🌿 Things To Do In Nature
Cooper River Park
One of the best spring walks in the area, the main trail offers a ~3 mile loop around Cooper River, perfect for morning dog walks. Throughout spring you can catch glimpses of the galas & boat races going up and down the water. Cooper River also offers a children's playground, dog park, multiple picnic areas, a sculpture garden, bocce courts, yacht club and more activities.
Grounds for Sculpture
Technically a little outside our immediate area in South Jersey, but worth it. Art, gardens, and a full calendar of events, set over 42 glorious acres. Coming up this spring is a Wellness Symposium. The sculpture park is a great place to unwind, connect, and get back to nature. And right next door is the highly-loved Rat's Restaurant with an extraordinary menu.
Dalton Farms
Tulip season in South Jersey is unreal. It’s giving “we drove to Europe” (but you didn’t)... simply head southwest on 295 until you arrive in Swedesboro NJ, where Dalton Farms is predicting full blooms in early April. "U-Pick Tulip Season" is great fun for all the family, for picking some beautiful flowers, for photo ops, and there's also playgrounds and wagon rights.
Laurel Acres Park
Simple, scenic, and perfect for a slow walk around the lake, Laurel Acres Park is a beautiful area in Mount Laurel. With a ton of amenities, you can enjoy: jogging paths, baseball fields, playgrounds, volleyball courts, picnic pavillions with grills, dog runs, and a basketball court. Tons of fun for all the family.
Why People Love South Jersey So Much
Honestly, this is just scratching the surface of what makes this area so special. South Jersey in the spring is full of great food, great coffee, and the kind of places that make it very easy to spend the whole day out.
