If you've ever wandered through Collingswood's tree-lined streets and found yourself admiring a beautifully restored Victorian, a charming Craftsman bungalow, or a meticulously maintained garden, you'll soon have the opportunity to see what's beyond the front door.
The 2026 Home & Garden Tour of Collingswood returns on Saturday June 27, offering visitors a unique chance to explore some of the community's most impressive homes and gardens while celebrating one of South Jersey's most beloved traditions.
Hosted by the Collingswood Civic Collective, the annual event highlights the architectural character, gardening creativity, and community spirit that have helped make Collingswood one of the most desirable towns in the Philadelphia region.
A Tradition That Showcases the Best of Collingswood
For years, the Home & Garden Tour has provided residents and visitors with an inside look at the homes and outdoor spaces that define Collingswood's unique identity.
Unlike many newer suburban communities, Collingswood features a diverse collection of historic homes built during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Walking through town, visitors can spot everything from Victorian and Colonial Revival homes to Craftsman, Tudor, and American Foursquare styles.
Each home tells a story about the borough's development, while also reflecting the personalities and creativity of the homeowners who continue to preserve and enhance these properties.
The tour provides rare access to many of these homes, allowing guests to appreciate architectural details that aren't visible from the street, including original woodwork, historic trim, stained glass windows, custom renovations, and thoughtfully designed living spaces.
Why Collingswood's Architecture Stands Out
Collingswood has become one of South Jersey's most sought-after communities for homebuyers looking for character and walkability. Located just minutes from Philadelphia via the PATCO Speedline, the borough offers an appealing combination of historic architecture, a vibrant downtown, and strong community engagement.
Many homes in Collingswood were constructed during a period when craftsmanship and architectural detail were central to residential design. Wide front porches, decorative gables, intricate millwork, and mature landscaping are common throughout the borough.
For architecture enthusiasts, the Home & Garden Tour offers a chance to experience these features up close while learning how homeowners have balanced historic preservation with modern living.
More Than Just a Home Tour
While the homes are undoubtedly the main attraction, the event also shines a spotlight on the gardens and outdoor spaces that contribute to Collingswood's charm. Participants can explore beautifully maintained gardens, creative landscaping projects, backyard retreats, and outdoor entertaining areas that provide inspiration for gardeners and homeowners alike.
The event also serves as a celebration of community. The homeowners who participate voluntarily open their homes and gardens, allowing neighbors and visitors to connect through a shared appreciation of design, history, and local pride. It's this sense of community involvement that continues to make the tour one of the borough's most anticipated annual events.
