The Camden County LINK Trail Is Taking Shape: Where Construction Is Happening in South Jersey

If you’ve been hearing about the Camden County LINK Trail and wondering when the plans would turn into construction, there’s progress to follow.

The county’s latest updates identify work underway on sections connecting Audubon with Haddon Heights and Somerdale with Hi-Nella. These are early pieces of a much larger planned network.

What Is the LINK Trail?

The LINK is a planned 34-mile trail for multiple uses, running through 17 municipalities from Camden to lower Winslow Township.

The vision is to connect parks, open space and downtown business districts through an off-road route.

For residents, the appeal is easy to picture: more ways to build a walk or bike ride into the day, and more places to explore along the way.

Which Sections Are Under Construction?

According to the county’s latest project updates:

  • Audubon to Haddon Heights

Construction began June 10 on approximately one mile along East Atlantic Avenue, connecting Merchant Street with Station Avenue.

  • Somerdale to Hi-Nella

Construction began August 3 on a 0.4-mile section between Somerdale Road and Wakonda Road. The county estimated six months of work.

Those construction announcements don’t mean the sections are open for public use. Check county updates and posted signs before planning a visit.

What Comes Next?

Other portions remain in design. Planned bridges near the Cooper River and Route 130 are expected to move toward construction in 2027, subject to funding.

The full route will take shape in stages, so the most useful updates will be local: which section is being built, what it connects and when it becomes available.

Why We’re Following It

Outdoor access can be a meaningful part of choosing a place to live. You might want somewhere to walk after work, a weekend cycling route or a different way to explore nearby communities.

The LINK is a project worth following as those connections develop.
